Description:
Nia (pronounced Nee ah) is a movement practice that follows the pleasure principle: if it feels good, do it; if it doesn't, stop. We begin each class warming up the body with fun moves to music that makes you want to move. The music and movement builds with punches, kicks, blocks from martial arts to build endurance and strength. The music and movements use elements of dance arts to create balance, grace, and fluid movement. We cool down the body at the end to center, and harmonize through stretching on a mat. Nia is typically done in bare feet. Some people choose to wear comfortable inside shoes, if they have foot sensitivities. Bring a Yoga mat and water bottle.
