Powerful Tools for Caregivers: Caregivers of Children with Special Health & Behavioral Needs (ended)
#: PC370   ID:    Section: 1
Description:
This six week course focuses on equipping participants with the self-care tools needed to thrive as individuals as they fulfill their roles as caregivers, whether you are a family member, friend or professional caring for someone with special needs of any age. Primary focus is on the health and wellbeing of the caregiver and not necessarily the care they are giving. This is not a support group, but participants do give and receive support during this workshop, which includes group discussion, problem solving and brainstorming. They also build a network of resources to carry forward as they strive to be better caregivers and improve their lives. Data from class participant evaluations indicates the PTC program improves: * Self-Care Behaviors; (increased exercise, use of relaxation techniques and medical check-ups), * Management of Emotions: (reduced guilt, anger and depression) *Self-efficiency (increased confidence in coping with caregiving demands), * Use of Community Resources: (increased utilization of community services).
